One-off Maserati GT2 Stradale honors the MC12

A collector's custom GT2 Stradale wears MC12-inspired colors and debuts beside the original at Villa La Massa.

Maserati has built a one-off GT2 Stradale for a collector through its Fuoriserie customization program, and it's dressed as a tribute to the MC12. Motor1 reports the car debuts at the Villa La Massa Excellence concours, held Oct 16 to 18 on a historic estate along the Arno River outside Florence, parked right next to an MC12.

Fuoriserie is Maserati's co-creation program, where the factory's creative team designs around a client's requests for bodywork, trim, finishes and equipment. This car wears a metallic Blu Victory livery chosen to mark the MC12's World GT1 titles, with a large Bianco Pastello trident on the matte-carbon roof and matching white lettering on the rear wing. Motor1 describes a white number plate carrying the Italian flag, "Italy" and a red number 33, black anodized center-lock wheels, and blue Alcantara inside with black-stitched tridents on the headrests.

There's a personal touch, too. At the owner's request, Andrea Bertolini, Maserati's Reference Driver and Racing Advisor, signed the engine bay. Bertolini raced the MC12 in its championship years and won the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship in one.

The MC12's record explains the fuss. According to Motor1, between 2004 and 2010 it won 22 races and 14 titles, marking Maserati's return to international GT racing after 37 years away, and it won the 24 Hours of Spa three times.

Underneath the paint, it's a regular GT2 Stradale, the road-legal version of Maserati's GT2 race car, built in Modena with the Nettuno V6 rated at 631 horsepower. Maserati calls it its most performance-focused road car ever. After the concours, Motor1 says the car joins the Car Show and Contest on Oct 17 and heads to the Mugello Track Experience on Oct 18. This is a one-off, so nobody else can buy it, but it's a good look at how far Maserati's personalization program will go.
